Joe has over 30 years’ experience as a diver and has dived for cucumbers, kina (sea urchins), pāua (abalone) and starfish in Alaska, Washington, California and New Zealand. He has also spent time running boats and diving with National Geographic, Howard Hall productions, Survival Anglia, and Norbert Woo while filming Great Whites! Joe has spearfished, freedived, or guided in the Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii, Tahiti, Tonga, Fiji, Niue, Vanuatu, Bali, Kimodo Island, and Australia from the Coral Sea to Tasmania, to name a few. Joe now spends most of his time supporting kaupapa Māori marine research across Aotearoa.
