Hiria joins the Pou Rāhui project after managing taiao projects that were aimed at connecting the iwi with the whenua and ngahere within Te Takapū o Tapuika, the tribal estate of Tapuika. These projects included freshwater monitoring and planning, pest control as part of a relict kōkako corridor programme, planting on sites of significance to the iwi, kōkako translocation, and kaupapa that related to tikanga such as Matariki and te reo Māori.
